Thank you On Tap for a great Scavenger Hunt!
On Saturday, October 22nd, On Tap and Widmer Brothers Beer hosted a Haunted Scavenger Hunt through Old Town Alexandria with proceeds to benefit King Street Cats. Volunteers with King Street Cats came out to participate (decked out in cat ears) and took home the First Place prize of $500 (which was donated back to King Street Cats). Annual Blessing of the Cats

What about me?™
King Street Cats' What About Me?™ campaign is an effort to shine a light on our older and special kitties throughout "kitten season". King Street Cats has a long history of helping cats that other shelters or rescue organizations will not. In doing so, it can take more time to find loving homes for these kitties. And finding homes for these special kitties will allow us to help other cats who need our help.
How can you help? (1) If you are looking to add a cat to your family, please visit us and meet our featured cats; (2) Watch our video and share it with your friends/family; (3) Help us all summer long by telling friends, family, co-workers and neighbors about our campaign and encourage them to adopt an older or special kitty from us; and (4) make a donation to help us promote our campaign and house our special kitties.
Animal protection books published by a KSC volunteer!
Book signing event December 17, 201 at ProFeed in Alexandria!
Our own Allie Phillips, a volunteer since 2004, has published her second book that was recently release. Defending the Defenseless: A Guide to Protecting and Advocating for Pets was published in August 2011 and is now available on Amazon and www.alliephillips.com (where you will receive an autographed copy). The book provides tips on how get involved to help protect pets. King Street Cats is featured in the chapter on thriving shelters. This is a wonderful book if you love animals, or as a gift for someone who wants to do more.
Allie's first book was published in September 2010 and is called How Shelter Pets are Brokered for Experimentation: Understanding Pound Seizure. This is first book to expose the practice of shelters selling or giving cats and dogs for research or experimentation. While 17 states (including Virginia) and DC have outlawed pound seizure, some animal control shelters still engaged in the practice practice unbeknownst to pet owners. Pick up your copy today at Amazon or Barnes and Noble and read about this betrayal of trust to our nation's homeless cats and dogs and what you can do to help.
