How to Help

Monetary Donatations

King Street Cats is run solely by volunteers and relies only on the graciousness of individuals who donate money to help us save as many cats and kittens as possible. All donations go to the care, feeding and sheltering of our cats.

Because we provide full veterinary care (testing, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and urgent care for injuries and illness) for every cat and kitten in our care, our veterinary bills are our largest expense, followed by rent, food and cleaning supply expenses.

Our Combined Federal Campaign number is 39069. Please add us to your charitable giving list!

Item Donations

We are always appreciative of these items that are in constant demand in our shelter:

  • Bleach
  • Paper towels
  • Large trash bags
  • Disposable large gloves
  • Small sandwich baggies
  • Canned kitten or cat food (Wellness and Pro Plan are preferred)
  • Cat litter (Feline Pine and Fresh Step is preferred)
  • Clean towels and linens
  • Unused cat beds and scratching posts (please, no carpeted cat trees)

Items can be brought to 25 Dove Street, Alexandria, VA (1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekends).

Volunteer

If you are interested in volunteering with King Street Cats, please email us! We host volunteer orientation sessions the 2nd Saturday of every month beginning at 11:00 a.m. Opportunities are always available to:

  • Assist with adoptions and adoption events
  • Be a foster parent for newborn kittens, pregnant or nursing moms, or kitties that need a little extra TLC
  • Play and cuddle with the kitties
  • Help with cleaning our cat room
  • Feed the kitties each morning and evening (which is always fun)
  • Transport kitties to the veterinarian or spay-neuter clinic
  • Join our medical team (especially if you have veterinary or vet tech experience)
  • Help us with fundraising and public relations
  • Contribute a talent or skill that you have to benefit the kitties,
  • Plus much more!
