THIS GENTLE, LOVING YOUNG BOY SEEKS A PURRSON TO BOND WITH AND A WINDOW TO SUNBATHE IN

Hello friends! My name is Pacino. While you may immediately think of the mighty actor with the same name, I want you to think of me: the mighty cute, extremely loving living room tiger - check out my photo, I'm even roaring for you!

I was found outdoors in Maryland. At some point I was part of a community effort to spay and neuter outdoor cats without known homes; that's why I have a tiny "slice" taken from one of my ears. It's a signal to other community animal volunteers that I've been "fixed."

Two discoveries were made when I received this medical care:

(1) I have one of the gentlest, most loving dispositions you will find in a feline friend. I have a natural affinity for human friends, and I was meant to live indoors as a cherished family member. I know you can help me with that!

(2) At some point during my outdoor existence I was bitten very deeply by another cat who transmitted the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus to me. This means I am "FIV+." Although I am FIV-positive, I am "Positively Adoptable." Many loving FIV+ King Street Cats alumni are now in loving homes. I'm going to tell you all about my FIV in a just a few paragraphs, and I'll tell you how to help me with that too. (Hint: it's no different than what you'd do for any cat)

First I want to tell you why you should adopt me!

I am a wonderfully mellow, affectionate boy who seeks out and luxuriates in human company. I am gentle and sweet, with a tiny lion's roar -- I mean PURRRR -  that lets everyone know how much I appreciate the attention I get. I am curious about everything my human friends do, yet I am neither hyperactive nor intrusive. I want to spend a lot of time with you, but I know you also have things you must do.

When you're busy, nothing will make me happier than a quiet, sunny window where I can soak in the sun and survey my realm. I am easy to please!

I'm not only handsome, I'm described by my KSC volunteer friends as adorable! I am a mocha-colored tabby with stripes and swirls, bright green eyes and a perfect salmon-pink nose. My fur is short, plush and silky. I'll purrrr when you pet me gently.

I'm dreaming of a quiet home with my own human(s) who will want to spent time with me and who will enjoy being greeted by me when they enter the room. The people who first gave me medical treatment and my KSC friends know that I'll make a wonderful companion.

I was born at the start of 2017, so I am a young boy looking forward to a lifetime of loyal togetherness.

Yes, I am FIV+, which means that I have Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. At some point I must have been received a *deep puncture* bite wound from another cat with FIV. You can still adopt me! My friends at KSC will answer any questions you have, but let me give you the basics:

FIV is not the same as Feline AIDS.

• It is not the same as the human forms of HIV or AIDS.

• Humans cannot catch it. Dogs cannot catch it.

• An FIV+ cat does not necessarily develop Feline AIDS.

• FIV can only be spread from one cat to another cat through deep-puncture bite wounds.

My care requirements do not differ from those of a non-FIV cat.

Here's what I'll need in terms of care:

  • I'll need you to feed me a high quality diet (preferably a grain-free, high-protein canned/wet food);
  • I'll need you to come to know my behaviors so that you can notice changes that may be health-related;
  • I'll need you to develop a good working relationship with a veterinarian who is current on FIV issues, and seek that veterinarian's assistance if you notice any changes in my behavior or health;
  • I'll need you to provide me with regular veterinary care;
  • I'll need you to keep me indoors so that I am not exposed to feral cats or wild animals.

That's all. Wouldn't you do that for any feline friend? I know you would.

Please come to meet me! It's easy to get started: send an email to contact@kingstreetcats.org and ask for me, the adorable and loving living room lion, Pacino.

I can't wait to come home and start loving you.

Affectionately yours,
Pacino
