CURRENTLY IN FOSTER
Colby and Maya are very special kittens who must be adopted together. They are ready to find their forever home and wanted to tell you their stories.
Hi, my name is Colby, I am excited to tell you my story. I am told I am a special guy. I think it must be because I am so handsome and fun to be around, but you might think it is because I am blind. I don’t want you to feel sad for me though because I can do anything any kitten can do. I can jump up on foster mom’s bed and I can play with my foster sister Maya; blind is normal for me.
Something didn't go just right before I was born and my eyes didn't develop like they were supposed to. Then, I was on my own outside when a kind person found me and took me to a shelter so I would be safe. They were really nice to me and helped me a lot. A doctor said it wasn't possible to fix my eyes but it didn't matter because I am wonderful just the way I am. Then, my friends at the shelter asked if anyone could help me find a forever home and JACKPOT!, King Street Cats said they would help. When King Street Cats came to pick me up I admit I was a little nervous about the trip. I figured I would be going to live in another cage. But my good luck continued when it turned about that the person who came to get me wasn't just giving me a ride, she was going to be my foster mom too! So, I have been living in a house, learning how to get around and do things even though I can’t see. There are lots of toys, snuggles and, the most wonderful news of all, I met my bestest friend Maya! It is amazing, how could one kitty get so lucky! Speaking of Maya, she wants to tell you her story too.
Hey Everyone, I'm Maya. I am one of those ”special” kitties too. I have a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia, gosh that is a mouth full. It is called CH for short or sometimes, Wobbly Cat Syndrome. It just means that the part of my brain that controls movement didn't form quite right so I have some challenges getting around. Being different doesn't bother me, it is just how I am.
I was found all by myself and taken to a big city shelter, there were lots of loud noises and other animals; it was sooooo scary. I was on my own for a while and pretty small as a result. The folks at the shelter knew I needed to be someplace where I wasn't so scared and could get all the care I needed. Things got better quickly because King Street Cats said right away they would help me. It seemed like I was in a carrier for a long time but then I was in a house, with sunny windows, a soft bed, and I found my best friend Colby there! My CH makes my movements a little unpredictable and that can sometimes scare other cats but Colby doesn't care. He can’t see when I move differently so it doesn't bother him and we have a grand time together. We chase toys, climb on the bed, and wrestle. We might not do things the same but we always do them together.
We are inseparable now and closer than if we had been born together. That is why we looking for our forever home together, could that be with you?
Colby’s estimated date of birth is 8/24/18.
Maya’s estimated date of birth is 12/1/18.
