Imagine if you will, being a tiny six-week old kitten, small for your age because you are on your own much sooner then you should. Just a small puff of fur, all alone on the streets of a city. Lots of people bustling by probably not even noticing such a small creature. And this isn’t just any city, it is a city where life is not easy and often perilous for people let alone a one pound kitten.
Unfortunately animals are not always treated kindly in this city and somewhere along the line I was kicked, whether intentionally or accidentally, and the result was a badly broken front leg. I knew I needed help fast. Being a resourceful little guy I scoped out the crowd, picked the friendliest looking face, sat down and, with all the energy I could muster, hollered for help. Wouldn’t you know it, it worked! That friendly face scooped me up, and took me straight to her friend who runs a rescue.
As luck would have it the rescue was getting a organized to the United States and they reached out to King Street Cats to see if we had room for me. Of course they couldn’t we say no. One 16 hour flight later, I received a warm welcome at the airport and was bundled off to the vet for a thorough evaluation.
In addition to the broken leg, I had some serious tummy troubles and difficulty eating. I didn’t feel so great and my leg hurt but the most important thing to me was getting as many snuggles as I could. I got to go to a foster home and once my leg healed and I was eating well I got to meet the other foster kittens. It took me a little bit because I had been on my own for as long as I could remember but now I LOVE all my foster brothers and sisters, especially my sister Samba. (She has a pretty amazing story too!)
I like people lots and will stand making biscuits waiting to be held and if you don’t pick me up quick enough I will just jump from wherever I am onto to you and give you a big hug. I’ve had a pretty rough time and would prefer not to be around dogs. Foster mom says I am so fun and affectionate I would probably be fine with children.
Do I sound like the purrfect fit for your family? Do you have room in your heart and home for two kitties with amazing stories? If so Samba and I would love to meet you and have the chance to tell you our stories in person.
Hugs,
Squeaky
