LOVING CREAMSICLE BOY IS A JOY TO HAVE AROUND

Hello friends, my name is Felix. I was living with a feral colony prior to joining the King Street Cats family. You can tell from the snip of my ear tip that I was neutered by a volunteer group working with feral colonies - the ear snip tells everyone who meets me in the future that I've been neutered.

Everyone who met me realized that I was much too friendly towards humans and loving to continue with that outdoor lifestyle. I have the stuff that cherished companion cats are made of! Now I'm here at KSC making friends with the volunteer staff and waiting until my own purrson comes to bring me home forever.

Maybe you've heard the story about orange boy cats (most orange cats are boys) being especially friendly, laid-back and adaptable. That's me! I have short, plus tabby stripes and swirls in my fur along with cream colored accents - I'm like a creamsicle that purrs.

I am indeed very friendly and loving. I'd be so happy with a purrson who wanted me by their side to explore inside our kingdom and then relax together. I am eight (8) years old, which means that my personality has definitely settled into the pleasantness that I've described. It also means that I have years and years of love to give!

I needed dental work, and King Street Cats has taken care of my dental needs. When I was at the veterinarian's office, we learned that I was FIV+. That's not a surprise given that I had to fend off other feral cats in order to survive. One of them must have bitten me deeply, because FIV spreads between cats (and only between cats) when one deeply bites another.

Let me explain more about FIV:

FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. It is *not* human HIV. Humans *cannot* catch FIV. Dogs *cannot* catch FIV.

It is spread from cat to cat by means of deep-puncture bite wounds.

Having FIV means that at some point I may, or may not, develop a heightened susceptibility to the ailments that we all face regularly.

This is the "extra" that I ask of you in order to keep me healthy:

  • Feed me a healthy, high quality high protein/grain free (preferably wet food only, because this is so much healthier than dry food)
  • Keep me indoors and away from combative cats
  • Establish a relationship with a trusted veterinarian (who is enlightened about FIV).
  • Bring me to my vet regularly and any time when you notice that I'm not feeling or acting like myself (this means getting to know me well enough through patience and diligent observation to understand what "acting like myself" means so you can recognize when I'm not acting like myself.

Wait, that's it? Yes, that's it. That's what I need from you. I know you'd lavish that upon any feline friend you brought into your home.

So that's my story! I'm a very handsome member of the orange cat society with a friendly, loving and loyal demeanor. I can't wait to have my own home with my own special purrson so we can keep each other company and bring comfort and happiness for years to come.

Please send an email to contact@kingstreetcats.org and ask to meet me, Felix. We can set up a safe and convenient appointment. Thank you!

Loyally yours,
Felix
