Zinnia is a beautiful, petite and delicate white, light orange and gray diluted calico kitten, with very expressive eyes. Zinnia comes with a little something special “up her sleeve”. Zinnia (and her siblings Aster and Cardinal) are polydactyl, sometimes known as Hemingway Cats. Zinnia has an extra thumb on both front feet, which makes her look like she is wearing mittens. It is beyond adorable! It doesn’t cause any issues; but makes her quite unique and you may fall in love when you see her front paws.
Zinnia was born in late May 2025. Zinnia and her siblings Cardinal and Aster and their mother Poppy were on Death Row when an overcrowded large city shelter ran out of space. KSC answered the call and they arrived at KSC on Father’s Day. Poppy and her three kittens were such a gorgeous family, all very brightly colored and round little puff balls. It is terrifying to think how close they came, especially as they have grown into such spectacular kittens. The sweet little family went immediately into a KSC foster home to grow up in a safe and loving environment.
Zinnia grew up as the only female with four male kittens and she was by far the smallest of the group. Zinnia was also the fiercest and would ambush her bigger brothers and take them down quickly. Her motto, was “never give up!” This included her two stepbrothers who were older and much bigger than she was. Zinnia is a very confident kitty, even as a baby, nothing scared her and she decided this was her kitten posse and she was the queen. After she proved herself she has become less opiniated with her brothers and happily plays alongside them, and no longer feels like she needs to beat them into submission. Even when she was proving to her brothers that she was the boss, she was the biggest cuddle bug with people, such a sweet dainty little thing.
Zinnia is easy, eats well and uses the litter box with no problems, she is happy being picked up, and loves other cats and kittens. Like the rest of the group, she is also a fan of giving nose kisses. Zinnia will be fine with another friendly cat or would love to go home with one of the kittens she grew up with, she is especially close with Aster and Cardinal.
